Meet Precept Ministries own Jan Priddy!

Jan Priddy, Precept Ministries, Bible Study Leader

So far we have introduced you to David Arthur, and to Pete DeLacy in our blog posts. Today, meet one of Precept's absolute jewels, Jan Priddy. Also known as Priddy Please, and Pretty Jan Priddy. Her passion for the Word and for Bible study leaders, along with years of experience make her the answer woman for all the leader questions.

Jan Priddy, what are your 5 favorite Bible studies?

Since Don was in the military we moved around the world introducing new areas to Precept Bible studies. When I started a new class I would begin with Lord, I want to know You.

Then we would do the following Precept Upon Precept studies:

  • Philippians. The doctrine in this book is so practical for everyday life.
  • Covenant. This is the foundation of our spiritual life.
  • Sermon on the Mount. This study is so rich in truth, and studying Jesus' own words is so humbling

And follow up with either one of these:

  • John. This study is like walking with Jesus.
  • Romans. It is the bedrock of the New Testament and I always wanted my students to have this truth in their lives.

If I were in the same scenario today, I would still start with Lord, I want to know You , but then follow up with Lord, teach me to study the Bible in 28 days before I did the others  .

Jan, what are your favorite tools for Bible study?

5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Jan Priddy.

1. Where did you go to college?

University of Kansas - go Jayhawks

2. Tell us about your family.

My husband of 52 years, Don, is a retired Army helicopter pilot. Our daughter Robynn, is an Alaska Airlines flight attendant. We have two grandchildren - Tristyn and Jonathon

3. What are your hobbies?

I love reading, cycling, flying ( I have my pilots license) and skydiving.

4. What are you really passionate about?

Exercise and studying God's Word.

5. What is your favorite Bible verse?

“Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”        Psalm 73:25–26

And now you know the rest of the story! From time to time we will introduce other Precept staff and trainers as we continue to blog. Please leave your comments and feel free to share this with your Precept friends.

I met Jan last summer at my 1st PUP study Ezekiel, and I haven't looked back since that day. An inspiration to know Gods Word, & to share it with others through Inductive study. Leading/teaching me at training courses, she has been a blessing & treasure in my life. I quote her now "we have many miles to walk"....Love You Jan Priddy!

Jan you are a great blessing to us Precept students. Other than emailing you and briefly talking to you in passing last summer at training, I'd not had the privilege of sitting under your teaching until this past Women's Conference. I wish I had that every week. Thank you for your faithful service to the body. God bless!

What a great article! I just absolutely love the pic & love JP! I'm probably one of the few people who call her JP...I felt like after receiving emails from her that I knew her & she always signed them Outta here JP...I too have to agree that if you talk about Ms. "Pretty" most would know you were referring to Jan Priddy! She is such an amazing encourager & great resource!!! One of my favorite sayings from Jan is: Meet you at the throne of grace! Yes, add prayer warrior to her list too...please meet me at the throne of grace to thank God for this pretty awesome lady!!!

Jan is God's jewel of grace and truth in love. She has walked through the valley, shouted on the mountain tops and wrestled with me through the trenches always pointing to Christ through God's living breathing Word. The teachings of wisdom and GRACE are on her tongue as she cheers His children on in the race. My favorite JP quote "God is in the business of growing up wise children who are better lovers of people." You are a true Barnabas JP.

I can't believe Jan is in the air coming down. She taught we would go "up". Guess we just have't heard that shout yet.

She loves cycling and I thought we kind of had something in common. However, about four years ago I mentioned to Jan that I rode as well. I thought I was doing great riding about 18 miles. Jan Priddy looked at me said "I'm just getting warmed up". Amazing! Go Jan! Maybe one day I'll catch up and do lengthy rides like you do. Love you! and I love PRECEPT!

I met and knew Don and Jan Priddy back during our days in Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. Mr. Priddy and I were in the same unit and he was the one that turned me on to Dr. John MacArthur and the Precept Bible study concept along with his dear wife, Jan. so to Jan and Don, if you read this, I want to ask you if you remember a young Black minister being over to your house on base, discussing the Bible and great preachers? This is Wayne Cooper! And I want to thank you for your godly example, and I have NEVER EVER forgotten the both of you!I love you in The Lord, and may God continue to favor your lives as well as your rich ministry to the saints.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Wayne Cooper
Ps. I am the senior pastor of my church in beautiful Pasadena, California, and have just celebrated 18 years to that congregation and will celebrate 32 years of ministry in October of this year.....Lord willing.
